11 Cited for Trespassing at Former Northville Psychiatric Hospital

The following information was supplied by Northville Township's Public Safety Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Two separate groups of people were cited on Oct. 20 for trespassing at the Seven Mile Property, the former Northville Regional Psychiatric Hospital.

Trespassing incidents increase around this time of year, and so do law enforcement efforts, township Public Safety Director John Werth said in a previous story.

  • On one patrol around 2 a.m., police spotted a vehicle parked in an area trespassers are known to leave their cars. Police discovered five people from Dearborn, Detroit and Grosse Pointe Park at the property using night vision goggles, according to the police report. They ranged in age from 20-23 years old. One of the trespassers had an outstanding bench warrant and was arrested. Another, who drove the group, was cited for expired vehicle registration. All were cited for trespassing and are due to appear in the 35th District Court in November.
  • Another group was discovered on the property on Oct. 20. According to township police reports, they were found squatting down to avoid being seen by passing drivers. "All of the subjects admitted to being on the property as part of a school film project," according to the report. One was from Northville. They ranged from 26-45 years old.
