2 Cited for Trespassing at Former Northville Psychiatric Hospital

The following information was supplied by Northville Township's Public Safety Department.

Two Detroit residents were arrested on trespassing charges after they were found on the Seven Mile property — home of the former Northville Psychiatric Hospital — on Dec. 1, according to a police report.

Someone reported the trespassers to the police, and they arrived on the property to find a 23-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man walking on the east side of the building, the report said.

The police asked both suspects to place their hands on the police car. When asked if they knew if they were on private property, the man said yes. Neither suspect would keep their hands on the car, so they were handcuffed, the report said.

The police searched the man and found a folding knife and a box cutter in his pockets. Police found a small knife, an empty liquor bottle and a half-empty wine cooler in the female's pockets, the report said.

The man told police that he was on probation for trespassing on the same property out of the 35th District court, the report said.
