Crime Report: Christmas Decorations Stolen, House Break-in Reported

The following information was supplied by the city of Northville's police department and Northville Township's Public Safety Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Vehicle break-ins reported

  • A resident on the 300 block of Yerkes reported to city police that a black leather jacket had been stolen from his car. According to Northville city police reports, it was in the backseat of the car, parked in the owner’s driveway, on Nov. 23. The contents of the glove box also appeared to have been tampered with.
  • A man on the 42000 block of Farragut Court reported to Northville Township police that someone broke into his vehicle on Nov. 23. He told police that his brief case and checkbooks were stolen.

Planters damaged

A few of the wreath-adorned planters in front of the were damaged sometime between the evening of Nov. 23 and the following morning, according to police reports. One was broken into pieces and one was salvageable.

Christmas decorations reported stolen

During the overnight hours of Nov. 22, someone stole Christmas lights and bows from the Parkshore Homeowners Association display, according to township police reports.

Accused shoplifter gets away

A man that store security say stole bottles of shampoo, fled from the store on Nov. 23 around 2:30 p.m. Township police could not find the man but located the stolen bottles and returned them to the store, according to police reports.

Hunters caught at Seven Mile property

On Nov. 24, two men were seen by a township police officer leaving the Seven Mile, former psychiatric hospital property on a two-track road in a truck. According to the police report, the men had bow cases and arrows in the bed of the truck. The two Brighton men told police that they had been hunting for about an hour on the property.

They were cited for trespassing and are due to appear in the 35th District Court in mid-December.

Accused Kohl's shoplifter caught

A woman was arrested on Nov. 25 at on charges of larceny. According to township police reports, store security saw her hide two bottles of perfume in her purse. She left the store, was stopped by security and admitted to the theft, according to police reports.

The 22-year-old Northville woman was charged with larceny, arrested and posted a $100 bond. She is due to appear in court in mid-December.

T-Mobile store broken into

After the security alarm at the T-Mobile store on Haggerty Road was activated on Nov. 26, a manager later called police to report damage to the alarm box, door and a chained box containing cell phones. According to the report, nothing appeared stolen.

Damage reported at new pedestrian bridge

Damage to the new bridge on Sheldon and Verona streets was reported on Nov. 26. Thirteen of the bridge’s wood spindles were kicked out and into the ravine below, according to police reports.

Home broken into

A woman on the 18000 block of Blue Heron Drive reported to township police that her house was broken into sometime around 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 27.

According to police reports, jewelry and cash were stolen from inside the home. The thief may have gotten into the house from an unlocked pedestrian garage door.
