Crime Report: Marquis Theatre Vandalized, Theft From Northville Downs

Marquis Theatre vandalized

Sometime between the evening of July 27 and July 28, someone spray-painted the word “merlin” on the roof of the , according to city of Northville police reports.

Northville Downs statue reported stolen

A cement jockey statue was reported stolen from . The statue may have been stolen between July 24 and July 27, according to city police reports.

Donations solicitor arrested

A 22-year-old Salt Lake City man was arrested by city police after soliciting donations door-to-door for a veterans group without a permit on July 27 near the 1000 block of Coldspring Drive.

According to city police records, the man was fund-raising for a group called Freedom United Sales to send care packages overseas to troops. The man was held on a $100 bond, which the group paid for, and is scheduled to appear in the 35th District Court.

Woman who U-turned in front of police arrested on charges of drunken driving, marijuana possession

An 18-year-old Northville woman was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and drunk driving after being stopped for making a U-turn in front of a township police car, according to police reports.

The woman told police that she thought she was following a friend’s car, which turned out to be the officer’s car. When the officer U-turned, the woman followed, according to the report.

When police pulled her over around 3 a.m. on July 27, the officer said could detect the odor of intoxicants coming from inside the car, according to the police report. The officer asked how much she had to drink. She reportedly told officers she had nothing to drink before admitting she did drink that night.

Police arrested her for operating while intoxicated, after conducting a variety of sobriety tests and took her to the township police station. During booking, the woman was found to have marijuana, a pipe with residue and other paraphernalia, according to the police report.

Porch door reported vandalized

A porch door was damaged on the 16000 block of Dover street sometime between July 21 and July 29, while the owner was out of town, according to township police reports. A single glass pane on the door was shattered. There were no signs of forced entry.

Unconscious man found with drug paraphernalia

Police found a man unconscious and slumped over his steering wheel on July 30 around 3 a.m., according to township police reports. The man was awakened by sternum rubs but kept passing out.

The fire department, which also responded to the scene, tested the man’s blood sugar, which was higher than average. The man had to be physically removed from the car by police and became combative, according to the police report. He was restrained until he could be put on a gurney to be taken to a hospital.

While police searched his pockets for identification, according to the report, they found part of a crack pipe, a syringe without a needle and a small glass bottle with a “strong medicinal odor.”

On the passenger side of the car, police also say they discovered a 2-liter bottle containing urine.

He was charged with operating while in the presence of drugs.

Cash reported stolen from van

On July 28, $100 was stolen from the center console of a van, according to a report made by a resident on the 19000 block of Clement Road to township police.

The van was unlocked at the time, according to the township police report.
