Crime Report: Northville Police Recover Student's Stolen iPod, Jacket

The following information was supplied by the City of Northville Police Department and Northville Township's Public Safety Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Stolen items recovered, returned

A student attending a dance at on Feb. 24 left her iPod in her jacket and returned to find both missing, according to city police reports.

Northville city police were able to track down her items and return them to her.

The 14-year-old girl told police she got a Facebook friend request from a girl who wrote "you don't know me but I think I know where your iPod is," according to police reports. Police concluded that the girl, a student at a Livonia middle school, was trying to figure out the access code under the guise of asking the other girl to prove it was hers by providing the code.

The girl who reported the stolen items saved the conversations on Facebook and turned them over to police. They tracked down the girl and talked to her mother, according to the report. The girl's mother turned over the iPod and jacket to police, who returned them to the owner. No charges were filed.

Man cited for possessing drug paraphernalia

Northville Township police stopped a 20-year-old Plymouth man near Seven Mile and Beck roads on Feb. 29 for speeding, and ultimately cited him for possessing drug paraphernalia.

Accoding to township police reports, the officer could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle. They found a metal pipe in the man's pocket and a glass pipe with marijuana residue in his backpack.

The man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding.

Wallet reported stolen from car

A resident on the 17000 block of Victor Drive reported to township police that someone had broken into his car on March 4.

According to police reports, items were moved around and the center console was left open. He reported that his wife's wallet and sunglasses were stolen.

There were no signs of forced entry, according to the report, and the car was likely left unlocked.

Owner reports car keyed

A man who parked his car at Northville Christian School on the afternoon of March 2, reported to township police that it was keyed.

The man left his car there because it was a meeting point for his carpool, he told police. According to the police report, he returned to find it keyed all over – on the hood, trunk, doors, quarter panels, windshield and even windows.
