Crime Report: Northville Woman Gets Email Death Threats

The following information was supplied by the City of Northville Police Department and Northville Township's Public Safety Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Death threat reported

A Northville woman reported to city police on March 23 that someone was attempting to get money from her to pay her way out of a murder for hire, according to city police reports.

The woman told police she got emails from an anonymous person, who had personal info about her including address and phone number, who said they would provide a copy of a tape of someone paying them to kill her if she paid $5,000. The emailer then offered her an opportunity to "pay off cover" on her life for another $7,000.

It is a common email scam, police said. There is language nearly verbatim to her letter on a scam website.
