Crime Report: Shoplifting and Vehicle Break-Ins

The following information was supplied by the city of Northville Police Department and Northville Township's Public Safety Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Teens arrested on charges of shoplifting at Meijer

Two teens were arrested on Dec. 6 in the parking lot on charges of retail fraud.

According to township police reports, an officer initially stopped at their car on the suspicion of an assault. Soon after that was dismissed, the officer noticed alcohol in the back of the car and asked about it. The officer was told several different reasons for why the alcohol was in the car, according to the police report.

Ultimately, Meijer officials confirmed with police that the more than $60 in alcohol was stolen and the two Livonia teens were arrested and charged with larceny. According to the police report, store security said they had previously stolen from another Meijer location.

They are due to appear in the 35th District Court in the last week of December.

Accused shoplifter arrested at Kohl's

On Dec. 7, township police arrested a 41-year-old Farmington Hills woman who they say stole from .

According to township police reports, the woman was seen by store security stealing clothes. When store security approached her outside, she would not cooperate, according to the report. Township police intercepted her car and arrested her on larceny charges. She posted a $300 bail and she is due to appear in the 35th District Court in late December.

Thefts from vehicles reported

  • A man at the Tree Top Apartments on Novi Road near Eight Mile reported to police that someone had stolen $4 from the center console of his SUV.
  • On Dec. 8, a man who parked his car in one of the city’s lots reported that $3 in loose change had been stolen from his car along with the face plate of his car stereo. A GPS was left in plain sight and nothing else appeared to be missing.
