Crime Report: Trespassers and Solicitors Caught, Cited

The following information was supplied by the city of Northville Police Department and Northville Township's Public Safety Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Woman charged with trespassing

On Oct. 26, a 25-year-old Rochester Hills woman was arrested by city of Northville police on charges of trespassing.

According to police reports, the woman was at a bar when a man she knew took her car keys. She called police who, according to the report, found her intoxicated. The man returned and told police he took the keys to her father’s house on a nearby street because she was too intoxicated to drive.

Later, police got a call from her father’s house. According to the police report, the woman’s father refused to return the key and asked her to leave. He offered to pay for her taxi. She demanded her key and would not leave the property.

She was arrested on charges of trespassing.

Solicitors arrested

On Oct. 27, two men were arrested in the city on charges of soliciting without a permit, according to a police report.

The two men were found on the porch of a resident of Fairbrook Street when police arrived. They told police they were attempting to sell magazine subscriptions, according to the report.

They are due to appear in the 35th District Court in mid-November.

Man arrested for open intoxicant in car

A 59-year-old Northville man was arrested on Oct. 26 after police found him asleep behind the wheel at the Six & Park Party Store, according to a Northville Township police report.

The police officer who found the man woke him up and found a three-quarters full can of beer in the center console, according to the report. The report also says that the man told police he did not know how he was getting home and uttered an expletive at the officer.

He was arrested on charges of possessing an open intoxicant and taken to the township police station.

While in jail, he was put in a restraint chair because he kept standing on the cell toilet to cover the camera with toilet paper, according to the police report.

He is due to appear in the 35th District Court in mid-November.

Trespassers caught at former psychiatric hospital

  • Four people were spotted trespassing on the township’s Seven Mile property, the former psychiatric hospital, on Oct. 31 at about 9 p.m. According to the township’s police report, an officer spotted them and two were caught. The others ran away. A 27-year-old Westland man and 22 year-old Dearborn woman were arrested and charged with trespassing. They are due to appear in the 35th District Court in mid-November.
  • On Oct. 30, two Clawson teenagers were arrested for trespassing at the former psychiatric hospital, according to a police report. They were cited for trespassing and are due to appear in the 35th District Court in mid-November.
  • On Oct. 28, three men were cited for trespassing at the property, according to a police report. They were released at the scene and are due to appear in the 35th District Court in mid-November.
