Man accused of trying to get money for stolen Kohl's items

A 25-year-old Farmington Hills man was arrested at on July 12 after trying to steal bedding and shoes, according to Northville Township police reports.

The man was seen by store security filling his cart with the items and taking it to the service desk to be returned, according to the police report. The man was reportedly given reimbursement in gift cards for two of the items before being stopped.

He attempted to exit the store with the other items, which he could not return, according to the police report. Then, he was stopped by store security.

Later, he was arrested by township police and charged with second degree retail fraud.

Woman running red light arrested on multiple charges

A driver who police said ran a red light on Seven Mile and Haggerty roads was pulled over and found with open containers of alcohol in the car, according to township police reports.

The report said that the 48-year-old Rochester Hills woman was found with two partially full vodka bottles concealed under a blanket behind the driver’s side seat on July 12.

According to the report, the woman said she had drunk from the bottles on a previous occasion but not that evening. Police also said they discovered she had a suspended license.

She was charged with driving with open intoxicants, driving with a suspended license and disobeying a traffic control device. She was arrested, her car towed and she is set to appear in the 35th District Court in August.

Several acts of vandalism reported last week

  • On July 14, the window of a car parked on the 39000 block of Windsome Drive was reported shattered. The owner told township police that nothing appeared to be stolen. The incident occurred sometime between 1:30 a.m. and 8 a.m.
  • The front driver’s side window of a car parked on the 17000 block of Wildflower Drive was broken, according to township police reports. It was apparently broken in the overnight hours of July 16 by a small stone or rock, according to the report. Nothing was reported stolen.
  • On July 16, the window of a van was reported shattered overnight, according to a township police report. Nothing was reported stolen in the incident on the 44000 block of Deep Hollow Circle.

Car reported stolen

A car was reported stolen from outside the Northville Woods Apartments near Seven Mile and Innsbrook Drive. According to township police reports, the car was parked outside the owner’s apartment and appeared to be towed away while the owner was gone on July 16 between 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. It was not a working car, according to the report.

Items stolen from unlocked car

A GPS, golf clubs, gardening equipment and $10 in cash were reported stolen from a car parked on the 16000 block of Tiverton Court, according to township police reports. The front doors were left unlocked while parked in the house’s driveway on the evening of July 13. The owner discovered the missing items on the morning of July 14.

Accused shoplifter caught at Kohl's

A 17-year-old Highland Park woman was arrested on July 16 on charges of retail fraud. Store security told police that she concealed two dresses, one under her shirt and the other in her pants, before attempting to leave the store.

Flower pot stolen

A flower pot was stolen on July 16 from the 19000 block of Ironwood Court, according to township police reports. The woman who reported the alleged theft said it was the second time someone had stolen a flower pot from her home.

ID, social security card among items stolen from car

The owner of a car parked on the 41000 block of Lehigh Street reported to township police that his car had been broken into on July 18, between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. The owner told police it was likely left unlocked. A wallet containing a license, medical card, social security card, debit card and credit card was stolen, according to the police report.
