Crime Report: Shoes, Pet Meds, M&Ms Reported Stolen From Vehicles in Northville

The following information was supplied by the City of Northville Police Department and Northville Township's Public Safety Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Nikes, M&Ms reported stolen from car

A pair of women's Nike running shoes and a bag of M&Ms were reported stolen from a car parked in the driveway of a home on the 16000 block of Meade Road. According to township police reports, the shoes are valued at $80. It is unclear if the car was left unlocked when the incident occurred on Sept. 25 around 4 p.m.

Purse reported stolen

A purse was reported stolen from a minivan on Sept. 22 near Hines Drive and Reservoir Street.  The owner told police, according to police reports, that she believed the car was locked. There were no signs of forced entry. A credit card in the purse was used hours later in Monroe at a department store and gas station, according to the report.

Wallet reported stolen

A woman reported to township police that on Sept. 21, her wallet was stolen from her purse, hidden under the seat of her car. She was parked by the Cass Benton park area. When she came back to her car she found her passenger window rolled down and the wallet gone, according to the police report.

The following day, a man found the wallet while waking through the park. The woman told police that one credit card, her drivers license, cash and stamps were missing.

Car window broken during theft from car

Another woman reported her purse was stolen on Sept. 21 near the Waterford Bend area. The purse contained a wallet with $250 in cash, her drivers license, checkbook, a credit card and a ladies watch.

The woman told police she found her passenger window broken and the purse gone.

Several groups of Seven Mile property trespassers cited

There were several incidents of trespassing at the Seven Mile property, the former psychiatric facility. They include:

  • On Sept. 25, at about 12:30 a.m., police spotted a car parked across the street from the Seven Mile property. When police searched the property, they found four people near the loading dock of the main building. According to the report, the officer announced his presence and the four ran in opposite directions. One returned to the car. He called his friends who agreed to meet the officer at the car, according to the report. They were cited for trespassing and obstruction. The three, who were between 18-20 years old, were from Livonia and Westland. They are scheduled to appear in the 35th District Court in October.
  • Four people were cited for trespassing and arrested, while one minor was cited with a curfew violation and trespassing at the Seven Mile property on Sept. 22. According to the township police report, one person in the group was videotaping the incident. The driver of one of the two cars belonging to the people had an “indefinite suspension” of his license and was arrested.
  • Township police caught and cited another group of four on Sept. 21 around 12:40 a.m. for trespassing at the property, according to police reports. Using thermal imaging, police located the four, who ranged in age between 18 and 26. The four were cited with trespassing and are due in the 35th District Court in October. According to the report, a fifth person remained in the car used by the group and did not trespass. He was given a warning.
  • Two people were cited for trespassing at the Seven Mile property on Sept. 26. According to township police reports, the two were arrested, cited and due to appear in the 35th District Court in October.

Car vandalism reported

A Northville woman reported to township police that her car had been keyed while parked in the Home Depot parking lot on Sept. 25 at 4:46 p.m.

Pet medicine reported stolen from car

A bag containing prescription pet medicine was stolen from a car parked near East Main and Hutton streets on Sept. 23, according to city police reports. Nothing else was reported stolen. The owner told police the vehicle was locked and there were no signs of forced entry.

Bicycle reported stolen within 15 minutes

A bicycle was reported stolen from Northville Downs on Sept. 24. The bike was left unsecured and unattended for about 15 minutes, according to the police report.

Vandalism reported at downtown businesses

Chairs from two Main Street businesses were reported damaged on Sept. 24 around 5:30 a.m.

The chair from Edwards was broken into several pieces and the chair from Great Harvest was left in the middle of the road with a parking cone, according to the police report. City police concluded it was a “random act” and the businesses did not appear to be specifically targeted.
