Crime Report: Thefts Reported, Seven Mile Trespassers Caught

The following information was supplied by the City of Northville Police Department and Northville Township's Public Safety Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Township police nab trespassers

  • Four people were cited for trespassing the site of the former psychiatric hospital known as the Seven Mile property, on Sept. 6. The women, all from out of town and between the ages of 19 and 21, were spotted walking around outside a building after parking their car across the street, according to township police reports. The officer shined a spot light on the women, issued them a citation to appear before the 35th District Court and released them at the scene.
  • Four people were cited with trespassing after crossing a fire truck on Seven Mile to get to the former psychiatric hospital property. According to the township police report, the people were “polite and cooperative.” They were released at the scene and are due to appear in the 35th District Court sometime this month.

Alleged shoplifter caught

On Sept. 3, police arrested a man who was charged with shoplifting at Home Depot. The 22-year-old Livonia man was seen taking items, which included a flashlight and doorbell among other things, and putting them in his clothes, according to police reports. The items were valued at $130.81.

He was released on a $500 bond and charged with third degree retail fraud. He is due to appear in the 35th District Court in mid-September.

Woman cited for stealing from Meijer

A 28-year-old Farmington Hills woman was arrested on Sept. 3 on charges of shoplifting from Meijer. Store security said they spotted her stealing items like dog and cat food, according to township police reports.

The woman is also reported to have taken a fan and placed the empty box back on the shelf. The items are all valued at $232.73. She then, according to the report, grabbed other items, went to the self-checkout and left them there before leaving the store.

She was arrested and charged with third degree retail fraud. She posted a $100 cash bond and is due before the 35th District Court in September.

Wheels reported stolen from car

On Sept. 4 a resident of the Park Place apartments reported to township police that all four of his car’s wheels were stolen. His car was parked under his carport when the wheels were stolen sometime overnight.

Items reported stolen from unlocked car

A laptop and GPS unit were reported stolen from an unlocked car parked outside a unit in the Northville Woods apartment complex, according to township police reports.

The incident occurred sometime between the evening of Aug. 31 and the following morning.

License plate reported stolen

A man on the 46000 block of Red Oak Drive reported to township police that his license plate had been stolen from his station wagon.

The incident, according to the police report, occurred sometime between the afternoon of Sept. 4 and the evening of Sept. 5.

Mountain bike reported stolen

A mountain bike was reported stolen from the front porch of a home in the city on the 300 block of Wing Street. The incident occurred between the evening of Sept. 3 and the following morning, according to city police reports.
