Crime Report: Wallet and Purse Reported Stolen From Vehicles in Northville

The following information was supplied by the City of Northville Police Department and Northville Township's Public Safety Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Car break-ins reported

  • A Northville woman reported on April 21 that someone smashed the front passenger window of her car and stole her purse. According to city police reports, it was left in plain sight on the center console while parked in a city lot and taken while the woman was gone for about 30 minutes. A credit card in the purse was used later in Romulus.
  • A resident of the 15000 block of Cog Hill Drive reported to township police that his wallet had been stolen from his car. According to township police reports, the man said about $300 was stolen along with credit cards. The car was likely left unlocked.

Seven Mile trespassers cited

Four men, ranging between the ages of 25 and 26, were cited for trespassing on the Seven Mile property on April 21. According to township police reports, the Farmington Hills and Bloomfield Hills residents were spotted by an officer on the former psychiatric hospital property after learning about it online. They are due to appear in the 35th District Court in Plymouth in May.

Teens arrested on charges of possession of marijuana

Township police arrested two teens in a vehicle with marijuana after responding to a call about a suspicious vehicle on April 20.

According to police reports, an officer could smell marijuana in the vehicle and searched it. The officer found a bag of marijuana and a rolled up marijuana cigarette.

The teens were arrested, posted $300 each for bail and are due to appear in the 35th District Court in May.

Woman reports identity theft

A city of Northville resident reported to police on April 17 that her sister had fraudulently used her information during a traffic stop. The woman told city police that she received notice of an upcoming court appearance in the 43rd District Court and asked her sister about it. According to police reports, the woman admitted to using her sister's information. Although the woman's sister declined to press charges, she may face obstruction charges for providing false information to the police officers.

Signs found spraypainted

Two signs behind Chocolates by Renee on Main Street were reported vandalized sometime between April 13-16. The signs were found spraypainted silver, according to city police reports.

Man faces misdemeanor hit and run charges

A Canton teen is facing misdemeanor after failing to report an accident on April 15.

According to city police reports, the man backed into a vacuum cleaner and light post at the Northville City Carwash. His car had been towed after it would not start and the man left without reporting the incident to police.
