Peter Gerard Jones, 46, charged with the homicide of an 84-year-old Novi woman at her home near Northville, appeared in court Wednesday morning for his preliminary examination conference.

Jones' attorney Arnold Reed, who represented ex-Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, requested that the preliminary exam be adjourned until next month. Judge Dennis N. Powers, of 52-1 District Court in Novi, agreed to the request, which means Jones waived his right to a preliminary hearing within 14 days of his arraignment

He is charged with homicide – murder first degree – premeditated and homicide – felony murder. A conviction for either charge carries a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Jones, who is currently on parole for manslaughter, will continue to be held with no bond at Oakland County Jail. His preliminary exam is 1 p.m. Feb. 11 at 52-1 District Court, 48150 Grand River Ave.

My prayers go out to the family of this woman horrifically murdered by this animal. I can't even imagine their pain and suffering. The sad thing is this animal should never been out of jail in the first place. When are the courts going to realize once a cold murderer always a murderer. And what a coward- taking the life of a poor helpless 84 year old mother and grandmother. Life in prison is too good for him- he himself deserves to be put to death.

Why are you not reporting the suicide last month and car jacking on January 15th, both at Meijers in Northville??
