Give Your Unwanted Drugs to Northville Township Police

The Drug Take-Back Day prevents prescription pills from getting into the wrong hands.

The seventh National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in Northville.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and Northville Township Police organized the event at the Northville Township Police Department, 41600 Six Mile Road.

"Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse," according to a news release from Northville Township police.

There are more Americans who abuse prescription drugs than those who use cocaine, hallucinogens and heroin combined, according to the 2009 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, the release said.

This is the community's chance to safely hand over unwanted, unused prescription drugs to law enforcement.
