Man Cited for Trespassing at Northville Psychiatric Hospital

The following information was supplied by the Northville Township Police Department.

Northville Township police issued a misdemeanor citation for trespassing to a man 6:15 p.m. March 7 at the former Northville Psychiatric Hospital, 41001 Seven Mile Road, according to a police report.

Three officers arrived at the scene where a man near the old laundry building was dragging a large gauge steel cable, the report said. He said he was there cleaning the place up and and trying to make money by recycling in the process, according to the report. The officers told him that the property was owned by the township and anything he took from the property would be stealing, the report said.

An officer asked the man if he had stolen anything yet, the report said, and the man said no but the officer could check his vehicle.

The officer drove him back to his vehicle parked at Northville Woods Apartments, according to the report, and found the vehicle to be empty.

The man was given a warning for attempted larceny and was issued a misdemeanor citation for trespassing, the report said.
