Northville Man Charged with Driving While Intoxicated

Northville Township police provided this information.

Northville Township police arrested a 25-year-old Northville man Dec. 6 on charges of driving while intoxicated, according to a police report.

An officer saw the driver of a 2001 Chevrolet S10 drifting left on Seven Mile Road near Silver Spring Drive, the report said, and driving above the 40 mph speed limit after making a U-turn to drive westbound on Seven Mile Road.

The officer stopped the driver. The man said he was en route back to his apartment when he realized he forgot something at his parents’ home, the report said. The officer smelled intoxicants while at the window of the car. The man said he had a drink but was all right to drive and that the officer should give him a breathalyzer test, according to the report.

His preliminary breathalyzer test had a result of .106 percent blood alcohol content, the report said. The legal driving limit is .08 percent. The man said he had two 24-ounce bottles of beer, according to the report. 

The officer arrested him. After the booking process was over, the man threw trash on the floor and refused to pick it up, according to the report.

He paid a $300 cash bond and has a hearing Dec. 18 at 35th District Court, the report said.
