Northville Police Searching for SUV that Killed Man

A 25-year-old West Bloomfield man died from his injuries after the hit and run.

Police are looking for the driver of a dark-colored SUV that struck and killed a 25-year-old West Bloomfield man during the early morning hours of Saturday.

Northville city Police Chief Gary Goss said that police are currently reviewing surveillance cameras to obtain images of the SUV.

He said the vehicle is a dark-colored Honda CRV. Because of the accident, it has damage to the passenger side headlight area and the outside passenger side rearview mirror.

"What we're hoping for is the person will turn themselves in ... to give the family closure," Goss said.

He added: "Clearly, were it I, if I felt I was going to be apprehended anyway, I would turn myself in ... If we have to track you down, chances are there’s not going to be a plea bargain."

The accident occurred very early on Saturday morning on Griswold in front of . Twenty-five-year-old Josh Green and his friends had been hanging out earlier that night. Green was walking in the street and his friends were on the sidewalk when the car struck him.

Green was taken to Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, where he later died of his injuries.

Green's friend Bobby Clemens, who saw the hit and run, told WXYZ-TV that "the car hesitated. By the time I got to my feet again, the car took off."

Clemens told WXYZ that he chased the car on foot. Goss said that the car turned right on Main Street and then turned on Hutton.
