Northville Township police arrested two Northville teens, an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old, at about 9 p.m. Jan. 17 on charges of possessing marijuana and narcotic paraphernalia, according to a police report.
An officer saw a black 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee on Six Mile Road near Waterford Road with defective headlights, the report said. The officer stopped the driver and smelled marijuana while standing at the window of the vehicle, according to the report. The 18-year-old driver said there was no marijuana in the car or on him and his two passengers, the report said.
When the officer asked to search the car, the man produced a small bag from his pocket with about 1.5 grams of marijuana, according to the report. The 17-year-old passenger also gave the officer a marijuana grinder, the report said.
The officer then searched the vehicle and found a glass marijuana pipe behind the driver's seat, the report said. The driver said that it was his, but he had forgotten about it, according to the report. The passenger, who had marijuana residue on his lap and stuck to his clothing, then said there was additional marijuana located in a backpack in the rear seat area, the report said. The officer found the marijuana, which weighed about 1 gram, according to the report.
Police arrested the teens. They both posted $100 cash bonds and have a hearing Feb. 5 at 35th District Court, the report said.
