UPDATED: Northville Township Police Arrest Women Accused of Trying to Break Into Homes

The women are suspects in other home break-ins outside of Northville, police say.

Northville Township police arrested two women on April 9 who are accused of attempting to break into homes near West Main and Springwood streets.

The two women, according to police, were going door-to-door looking for a lost dog.

"The suspects' plan was to locate a residence with no one home and find a way to make entry," according to a police press release. "Once inside, they planned to steal jewelry and money."

There were people home at the first two houses that the women approached. The homeowners were suspicious of them and called township police, according to the press release.

Rachel Frances Peters, 28, of Detroit, and Nicolea Dawn Watters, 23 of Flint, were arrested.

According to the press release: They were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit home invasion, which is a 15-year felony, and were arraigned Wednesday before 35th District Court Judge Michael Gerou. Bond was set at $50,000 and a preliminary examination was set for April 20.

In March, police asked residents to be on the lookout for trying to break into homes. Detective Lt. Michael Wildt said the cases are unrelated. However, these women are suspects in other break-ins outside of Northville.

The women in the other case, who were also accused of going door-to-door in an attempt to break into unoccupied homes, were described as older than the women arrested in this case, Wildt said.
