Police Arrest Driver for Outstanding Warrants After Traffic Stop

The following information was provided by the Northville and Northville Township police departments. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

spotted a vehicle without rear taillights on Haggerty Road north of Six Mile Road that had its hazard lamps flashing, according to a police report.

When police ran the license plate, a criminal bench warrant was out for the driver from Livonia Police for failing to pay fines and costs from a third-degree retail fraud with $175 bond.

Northville Township Police handcuffed the man, who then was picked up by Livonia Police.

stopped a silver Ford Taurus on Aug. 18 at South Center and Main streets when the driver drove through a red signal, crossed the intersection and turned so the Taurus was blocking the west side of the intersection then completed an illegal U-turn as oncoming traffic approached, according to a report.

When the police initiated a traffic stop, the driver struck and drove over a curb as it pulled into the parking spaces on the south side of E. Main Street.

The driver told police she was lost and claimed the traffic signal was yellow when she crossed the intersection.

According to the report, the officer noticed the odor of alcohol coming from the driver, who told the officer she was returning from the Tin Fish bar in Novi but only had one glass of wine.

After struggling with field sobriety tests, the driver submitted to a preliminary breath exam, where she registered a blood alcohol content of 0.14 percent. The legal limit in Michigan is .08 percent. The driver was taken to the Northville Township Police Department for processing, when she was administered a second breath test, where she registered a 0.13 percent BAC.

The driver will face charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, the report said, which would be her second such offense.
