Northville Township police arrested a Northville Township man around 9 p.m. Sept. 1 on marijuana possession charges, according to a police report.

An officer saw the driver of a black 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt driving with a malfunctioning right headlight near the AMC theater complex, the report said.

The officer saw a Ziz-Zag rolling machine in the center console of the vehicle, according to the report. The officer asked if there were any narcotics and to search the car, both to which the driver said no, the report said.

The officer called for support from Novi police’s drug dog, according to the report.

While waiting for the canine unit to arrive, the front seat passenger told the officer he had some marijuana and a pipe on him, the report said. Outside of the car, the man handed the officer a bag with a green leafy substance, a purple plastic tube and a silver “One Toke” steel pipe from his pockets, according to the report. The substance later tested positive for marijuana, the report said.

The officer arrested the man on charges of possessing marijuana and narcotic paraphernalia, the report said. He posted a $300 bond, which his mother brought to the station, according to the report.

He has a hearing Sept. 18 at 35th District Court.
