Northville Township police arrested a 39-year-old Novi woman Sept. 25 on charges of trespassing and obstructing police at Meijer, according to a police report.
Someone told police that the woman was eating in the food court in the store, at 20401 Haggerty Road, without paying, the report said.
The woman was asked to leave the store but refused because she said no one told her this before, according to the report. She said she would only leave the store in handcuffs, the report said. The manager said that she is not allowed in the store because they had multiple past incidents with her, according to the report. The woman continued yelling.
At one point she took a defensive stance and clutched a pen in her right hand, the report said. The two responding officers quickly grabbed her wrists and told her she was under arrest, according to the report. She struggled and the officers had to bring her down to the ground to place her in handcuffs, the report said.
The woman lied to police about her name and told them she was homeless, according to the report. The officers discovered her identity based on a trespass warning in August filed by the same manager, the report said. She refused to sign the advice of rights form with her real name, the report said.
Her scheduled hearing was Oct. 2 at 35th District Court.
