Police Arrest Southgate Man on Charges of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

Northville Township police provided this information.

Northville Township police arrested a 38-year-old Southgate man Nov. 28 on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a police report.

An officer saw the man drive through a red light near Haggerty and Six Mile roads, the report said. The officer stopped the man and smelled intoxicants inside the vehicle, according to the report. The officer also noticed the man had watery eyes and slurred speech, the report said.

The man said he drank a couple of beers at the Lions football game and got lost on his way home, according to the report. His preliminary breathalyzer test had a result of .253 percent blood alcohol content, the report said. The legal driving limit is .08 percent blood alcohol content.

The officer arrested the man, who has a hearing Dec. 18 at 35th District Court, the report said.
