Rabid Raccoon Shot in Northville

The following information was provided by the City of Northville Police Department.

Two Northville city police officers were dispatched to Taft Road and Lexington Boulevard at 12:45 p.m. on Feb. 13 on a report of a sick raccoon in the roadway, according to a police report.

Upon arriving to the area, the officers noticed the raccoon was convulsing and did appear sick, the report said. The officers moved the raccoon to a grassy area off the roadway and shot it twice, the report said. The raccoon was then taken to the Department of Public Waste and disposed of, the report said.
