1 Thousand Gallons of Fuel Stolen from Northville Township Company

The following information was supplied by the Northville Township Police Department.

A person stole about 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel sometime between 3:15 p.m. May 20 and 6 a.m. May 21 from a Northville Township company, according to a Northville Township police report.

The fuel, worth $5,000, was stolen from a Glencorp Inc. construction site near Six Mile Road and Hearthside Way, the report said.

The site manager said that the fuel tank had several locks but someone still could have gained access from a cap on the top of the tank that could not be secured, according to the report. He said because of the large volume of fuel that was taken, the suspect would have needed a tanker truck or trailer to haul it away, the report said.

He said this is the second time in a little more than a week that someone stole fuel from the tank, the report said.  He said he was suspicious because both thefts occurred after fuel deliveries but said that everyone on the crew had worked with the company for some time and he trusted all of them, the report said.

He said he wasn’t sure if he would continue storing fuel on site or have a fuel truck come to the site everyday to fill up the equipment, according to the report.
