[UPDATE] Police Find Woman Murdered in Her Home Near Northville

Police have arrested one person of interest.

Novi police are investigating the homicide of an unidentified 84-year-old woman whose body they found inside her home near Northville Monday afternoon.

At about 2:43 p.m. Monday, Novi police received a 911 call regarding an unresponsive woman in the 20900 block of West Glen Haven Circle in the Country Place condominium complex, north of Eight Mile Road and west of Meadowbrook Road in Novi, according to a news release Tuesday morning.

Upon arrival, police and fire department personnel discovered the deceased body of the 84-year old woman in her home. Injuries to the victim are consistent with a homicide, the release said.

Novi police investigators worked through the night and completed a search warrant Tuesday morning for a person of interest at a Novi home. Items seized during the search included valuables believed to be from the deceased woman's residence, the release said. Investigators arrested one person and anticipate filing an arrest warrant request on all applicable charges with the Oakland County Prosecutors Office, according to the release. 

Forensic scientists from the Michigan State Police Northville Crime Laboratory assisted investigators in processing the scene. The Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy Tuesday morning, according to Novi police.
