VIDEO: Northville Township Fireman's Ball Attracts Record Number of Attendees

The annual ball and live auction were a fundraiser for local charities.

It was a record on two fronts for the Northville Township Fireman's Ball on Saturday night.

About 300 people attended the event and the group received a record number of donations for its live auction, twice the amount they've gotten in the past, said township firefighter Jesse Marcotte. Items ranged from trips to a golf outing with fire chief Richard Marinucci.

"This is a great sign that this is picking up steam," he said.

Some of the local charities that benefit from the proceeds are and Northville Goodfellows as well as larger non-profits like the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the American Lung Association.

"The reason we do this event is we very strongly feel, as Northville Township firefighters, that our service to the community doesn't end at the end of our work day," Marcotte said.

Northville-based is one of the charities to benefit from the event.

"Anything that we receive in the way of donations, will turn right into research for children's cancer and comforting kids who are going through the cancer treatment," said Christoph's A.L.L. Stars founder Anita Bartschat, who began the charity with her son.
