Intoxicated Woman With Gun Arrested at Rocky's

The following information was provided by the Northville Township Department of Public Safety.

Northville Township police were dispatched to Rocky's on Seven Mile Road at 7:15 p.m. on Feb. 1 for a report of a woman who was visibly carrying a firearm, according to a police report.

Upon arrival, the Rocky's staff told the officer that a woman had entered the women's restroom approximately 30 minutes earlier and that she was in possession of a firearm that was seen by restaurant patrons, the report said.

The officers entered the restroom and saw the woman leaning over the bathroom counter with her head in one of the sinks. The officers could see the grip and top of a handgun, which was not holstered and was sticking out of the waistband in the back of her pants, the report said.

Two officers approached her and took possession of the gun without incident, the report said. The woman appeared to be passed out and did not immediately acknowledge the officers' presence, the report said. The officers could smell the odor of intoxicants coming from her, the report said.

The woman mentioned she had a concealed pistol license, and the police handcuffed her and arrested her for a violation of her license because she was intoxicated. In Michigan, individuals are not allowed to cary a concealed pistol if they have a blood-alcohol level of 0.02 or above.

The woman, 37, from Westland, voluntarily took a breathalyzer test, which showed she had a blood-alcohol level of 0.129, the report said.

For having a BAC of above a 0.1, the woman faces possible penalties of up to 93 days in jail, a $100 fine, and/or a permanent license revocation, according to the Michigan State Police.

The woman was issued a citation and the police report was forwarded to the Michigan State Gun Board for review of her license.
