Bentivolio Files Complaint Over Cassis Campaign Plan to Give Voters Bracelets on Primary Day

The 11th Congressional District Republican says the plan violates Michigan Campaign Finance Law.

An Aug. 1 statement by 11th Congressional District Republican primary write-in candidate Nancy Cassis' campaign led opponent Kerry Bentivolio to file a complaint Friday with Michigan's Secretary of State.

According to a release issued by the candidate, the Detroit Free Press reported that Cassis' campaign "is asking supporters to wear special bracelets displaying her name into the polling places. This plan violates MCL 168.744(3), which prohibits the displaying of any material that directly or indirectly makes reference to any election within 100 feet of a polling place."

The Free Press quoted Cassis' campaign as saying they plan to hand out red silicone bracelets bearing Cassis' name on primary day, Aug. 7, "to help supporters get the spelling right."

The Bentivolio campaign release said the candidate is asking the Secretary of State to notify the Cassis campaign about the restrictions in state law. "We have asked the Secretary of State to deny entry to anyone who is displaying campaign materials," the release states.

All time record corporate profits?!! Where do you hear that?! I just did a quick google of 2012 2nd quarter Corporate Profits and I saw all kinds of DOWN data. Next, When was the House the only branch of Govt? You know there is still a Senate (least productive in the modern era) where all bills from the House seem to go to die and President who simply decides to rule via Executive Order, more in less than four years than Bush's full 8 years of them and after Obama campaigned in 08 against them?! What rock do you live under? Or, are you simply taking notes from Cassis and throwing out any and all lies that can come to mind in hopes some poor uninformed person believes you?!

Corporate profits declined last quarter, ticking down by $6.4 billion or 0.3 percent in seasonally adjusted annual terms. A small decline, yes, but it was also the first decline since the fourth quarter of 2008, when the great recession was still raging. New York Times http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/06/28/corporate-profits-fall-for-first-time-since-recession/ follow the link and look at the chart, Corporate Profits have been declining in large since 09 and are now near a net 0% gain. The trend is clear.

nancy's voting record is public information... you might wonder why Mark J Smith thinks that she'd be a great US Rep... She voted to send $$$ to a Korean company to make batteries for electric cars... and she said 'no new taxes'... just before she sponsored the MBT that raised small business taxes 4.95% - and KILLED jobs in MI!! She's a puppet to the moderate party... not someone I want in D.C. in times like this... if we don't elect Constitutional conservatives like Kerry Bentivolio - whose goal is to SAVE our country - the good ol' boys (and girls) will just keep playing obama's game. You do realize, don't you, that there is very little differences these days between a D and an R? And what's really sad is their own stupidity... obama is making Congress irrelevant... and they don't even see what's happening!! No, we need people with brains and fortitude in D.C.... not old party hacks who will do whatever their master tells them... VOTE BENTIVOLIO!!!

My parents always told me - cheaters never win, in this case they were so right. Nancy and the republican party elite should take notice that the citizens have had enough of their nasty tactics! Congratulations to Kerry Bentivolio on a well run race against great odds!
