Court Report: Larceny, Marijuana Possession and Solicitation

A summary of court cases in the 35th District Court from Sept. 8, 2011 – Sept. 14, 2011, covering Plymouth, Canton and Northville.

The following items are updates on cases in the 35th District Court, which serves Plymouth, Canton and Northville. Not all items, unless otherwise noted, reflect guilty pleas or convictions.

 

Ryan Joseph Milligan, 36, Plymouth

  • Hearing for violation of probation for a simple larceny conviction stemming from a crime committed on June 3, 2010 in Plymouth Township
  • Failed to appear at this hearing
  • A bench warrant has been issued for his arrest

Kenneth Grady Hall II, 25, Canton

  • Pretrial hearing for a charge of possession of marijuana in Canton on April 6, 2011
  • Paid $150 bond
  • Requested a court appointed attorney

Karma Annette Oven, 30, Ypsilanti

  • Violation of probation on her delayed sentence for a charge of larceny greater than $200 committed in Canton
  • Under MCL 771.1, the court may delay sentencing for a period of not more than one year, allowing the defendant the opportunity to prove her eligibility for probation for leniency of the court. 
  • By violating the delayed sentence, the defendant did not prove her eligibility for leniency by the court.
  • Referred to the probation department for sentencing

Jacob Antony Tropiano, 19, Canton

  • Charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and violation of the public health code committed in the City of Plymouth on Aug. 7, 2011
  • Pleaded not guilty
  • Pretrial hearing scheduled

Nathan Anthony Lee, 45, Ann Arbor

  • Arraigned on a charge of retail fraud committed in Canton on Aug. 22, 2011
  • Failed to appear for this pretrial hearing
  • A warrant has been issued for his arrest

Tyler Cole McBride, 19, Belleville

  • Arraigned on a charge of count of violation of the public health code for possession of paraphernalia in the City of Plymouth on Aug. 22, 2011
  • Pleaded nolo contendere, [the defendant neither accepts nor denies responsibility for the charge, but agrees to accept the court’s punishment]
  • Scheduled for a presentencing interview and sentencing hearing

Dennis Lee Lear, 31, Dearborn Heights

  • Pretrial hearing on a charge of solicitation on Nov. 5, 2009, in Canton
  • Failed to appear in court
  • The court issued a warrant for his arrest

Joe, the closed sign was in the window because Chocolates by Renee was closed for the day. The forRead More rent sign was in the window because the space holds more then one business. The other space that the chocolate store does not occupy is available to rent.

Journo101 mistake here. Always verify a closure with the owner or valid source before publishing.Read More Mistakes like this can be incredibly costly for a small business owner. The for rent sign has been there for over a year, same with the closed sign. Spend time in your city everyone, and you'll know whats going on before you see it online!
