Court Report: Marijuana Possession, Retail Fraud and Larceny

A summary of court cases in the 35th District Court from Aug. 17, 2011 – Aug. 25, 2011, serving Plymouth, Canton and Northville.

The following items are updates on cases in the 35th District Court, which serves Plymouth, Canton and Northville. Not all items, unless otherwise noted, reflect guilty pleas or convictions.

Michael Patrick Padden, 39, Northville

  • Arraigned on a charge of manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance and prescription forms in the City of Northville
  • Preliminary examination held
  • Bound over for trial

David John Beattie, 20, Westland

  • Complaint authorized for a charge of second degree retail fraud committed in Canton
  • Arraigned and charged
  • Bound over for pretrial hearing

Dominique Elton Morris, 20, Romulus

  • Violation of probation for violation of the public health code for possession of drug paraphernalia in Canton
  • Pleaded guilty and was assessed $723 in fines and six months non-reporting probation
  • Released on a $100 cash bond
  • At hearing, was fined an additional $250 and three days community service and six more months probation

Tashie Letha Hodge, 31, Wayne

  • Trial for second degree retail fraud in Canton
  • Pleaded not guilty to the charges and waived a jury trial and agreed to a bench trial, which means the trial will be held before the judge, who will determine guilt or innocence.

Sarah Elizabeth George, 18, Livonia

  • Pleaded guilty to larceny over $100 in Plymouth
  • Six months non-reporting probation
  • Conviction deferred under MCL 762.14 the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act, where the conviction will be withheld if defendant fulfills her sentence

Derrick Winslow Mattison, 23, Warren

  • Pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana in November 2010 in Canton and sentenced to nine months probation
  • Violated probation by failing to pay his fine and failed to submit proof of his community service
  • Probation extended by three months
