In Brief: City of Northville Approves Contract for 'Movies at the Marquis'

The movie showings will cost approximately $5,800.

The "Movies at the Marquis" event begins on Jan. 21 and runs through Feb. 25. Northville's city council approved the Downtown Development Authority's proposal Tuesday night to continue the annual event in 2012. The estimated total cost will be $5,800.

Tickets for the movie showings – held for six weeks on Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. – can be purchased at the sponsoring store locations for $3 or at the door for $5. For example, the first show on Jan. 21 features the John Wayne flick True Grit. Tickets for that movie can be purchased in advance at .

Below are the other movies and locations at which tickets can be purchased:

  • January 28: The Pink Panther ()
  • February 4: Goldfinger ()
  • February 11: Anatomy of a Murder (Johnson Rosati/)
  • February 18: It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad World (Northville Physical Rehab)
  • February 25: Bye, Bye Birdie ()

Cost to rent the facility is $800 per night for a total of $4,800, according to Lori Ward, the DDA's director who presented the proposal to the city council.

The business sponsors on each of the nights are expected to contribute a total of $4,500, according to city documents. Additional revenue will come from ticket sales. The DDA will oversee payment to the Marquis.
