Northville Resident Appointed to Michigan Freedom Trail Commission

Kimberly Davis Tranumn is a new addition to the commission.

Kimberly Davis Tranumn of Northville is among three appointees named to the Michigan Freedom Trail Commission by Gov. Rick Snyder on Friday.

Davis Tranumn is the director of Adrian College's Underground Railroad Education Program, according to a press release. She also serves as an adjunct professor of communication arts. Davis Tranumn is a University of Michigan graduate, with a bachelor's degree in communications and political science. She also holds master's degrees in public administration and journalism. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in political science from Wayne State University, according to a press release.

Charles "David" Teeter of Detroit was also newly named to the commission. Roy Finkenbine of Livonia was reappointed. The three appointed Friday will serve terms until Feb. 1, 2016.

"I am pleased to appoint David, Kimberly and Roy to the essential work of preserving this trail, and with it, Michigan's history, cultural heritage and embodiment of freedom," Snyder said in the press release.

The commission preserves and promotes the legacy of the Underground Railroad's Freedom Trail in Michigan.
