Novi's Kathy Crawford to Run for State House Seat

County Commissioner Kathy Crawford has announced her candidacy for State Representative in the 38th District, which covers portions of Northville.

County Commissioner Kathy Crawford (R-Novi) will run for the State House of Representatives in the 38th District.

Crawford announced her candidacy Thursday. Her husband, Hugh Crawford, is the current State Representative for the 38th District and will now be able to run in 2014 because of term limits.

"I’m results-driven," Kathy Crawford stated in a press release announcing her plans. "When I see a problem, I want to get it fixed. I want to bring my optimism, common sense, passion and attitude to Lansing. That’s how I approach public service, and that’s why I believe I’m the best person for this job."

The Crawfords describe themselves as life-long Novi residents. Kathy Crawford worked in public service for 30 years before starting her political career. As a politician, she served on the Novi City Council and as Oakland County Commissioner for district 9.

"The 38th District seat is an opportunity for me to expand my knowledge and experience, so I can influence public policies, statewide, to help the local citizens who have been so loyal to me," she said.

The 38th District includes Novi, Novi Township, Walled Lake, South Lyon, Lyon Township and part of Northville.
