Amerman Principal to Retire at End of School Year

Dr. Anderson will retire in June of this year.

Dr. Steve Anderson, principal of Amerman Elementary School, has announced that he will be retiring at the end of this school year.

He has served at Amerman for 21 years.

"During Dr. Anderson's tenure with Northville Public Schools, his leadership has been instrumental in a number of arenas, including a steadfast commitment to parent involvement and education; Amerman's Green School effort (achieving Emerald status); offering a variety of learning centered extra-curricular opportunities for students (i.e. Lego Robotics, Chess Club, Science Olympiad); securing grant funding for project work; and a tremendous focus on action research," said Northville Superintendent Mary Kay Gallagher in a statement.

Northville will be looking to hire a new principal for the school and will post the position internally and externally on Friday. After gathering input from the school community and conducting interviews, the district hopes to hire the new principal by May 28.

Happy he is gone. My children never thought he was very friendly back in the day!

Dr Anderson is one of the most committed educators I have ever met. I had the pleasure of knowing him as a principal as well as working with him on advocacy projects with our legislators. He was an asset to the Northville community and I wish him the best in his retirement.

I echo Anita B's comments. In the short time I've known him, I have admired his ability to dive into the data and identify / act upon improvement areas. Amerman continues to be one of the higher performing schools because of his proactiveness. Dr. Anderson is leaving behind some big shoes -- he will be missed!
