In Brief: Northville Lunch Prices to Increase at Elementary Schools This Fall

The 15-cent increase is expected to generate $33,000 in revenue.

The price of school lunches is set to go up in Northville’s public schools this fall.

The lunch prices will increase from $2.60 to $2.75 at the district’s elementary schools and , according to a memo from Michael Zopf, assistant superintendent of finance and operations. Prices were last raised in the elementary schools in 2007.

The reason, according to the memo, is an increase “in food prices (including delivery charges due to higher gasoline costs) and labor costs (due primarily to higher insurance and retirement costs.).” The increase is expected to generate $33,000 in revenue for the district. The amount will be applied to a transfer to the general fund.
