Michigan Democratic Party Endorses Northville Lawyer for Wayne State Board of Governors

The MDP has endorsed Sandra Hughes O'Brien.

For a seat on the Wayne State University Board of Governors, the Michigan Democratic Party (MDP) has endorsed Northville attorney Sandra Hughes O'Brien.

There are eight seats on the university's board of governors, two of which will be up for grabs in the November election. According to the university's website, the members of the board of governors serve eight-year terms.

All but two people currently on the board are identified as Democrats.

Here's a synopsis of what the board of governors is responsible for at Wayne State, according to the university website:

"The Board of Governors elects the President of the University, has general supervision of Wayne State University and the control and direction of all expenditures from University funds. It enacts bylaws and regulations for the conduct of its business and for the governance of the University. It sets tuition and policy for other fees and charges, determines the compensation to be paid for service; confers degrees and sets the policy for management of gifts, grants, bequests, agreements and contracts, and leases or disposes of property."
