New Principal Selected for Northville Elementary School

The district administration will make its recommendation to the board on Tuesday for a new principal at Thornton Creek.

Superintendent Mary Kay Gallagher announced via email on Friday that she will recommend Alison Epler, of Brighton Area Schools, to replace Sharon Irvine as principal. The recommendation will go before the school board at its Oct. 11 meeting. If approved, Epler will begin on Oct. 17.

for a position with Ypsilanti Public Schools.

Epler has experience as a Response to Intervention Team Facilitator and elementary teacher, according to the email.

"Her skill set, leadership, and readiness to move into the principalship was demonstrated through each phase of the interview process and reinforced by strong references," Gallagher said in the email. "I am also mindful that a change in building level leadership is a difficult process, one full of hopes and expectations as well as a desire to maintain consistency and to continue the thoughtful work that exemplifies Thornton Creek."

She added, "Please know that Ms. Epler looks forward to working with and building on the work that Thornton Creek staff and parents have been engaged in - from the focus on the Whole Child to 'Think Scientifically,' to meeting the needs of all students."
