In her last season, as a senior who plays right wing, she was honored to have been named an All-State hockey player.

Her reaction: "Surprised, really happy about it."

Hockey is likely in her future too.

"I either want to play in the club team at Michigan State or Michigan," she said.

In addition to hockey, Lauren has played soccer and lacrosse on the varsity level. This is the first year she opted out of lacrosse. Still, staying in shape and involved in competitive sports is important to her. But there's something else she loves as much as the physical benefits of athletic play.

"It’s a good bonding experience with classmates at my school," she said.

When Lauren goes off to college this fall, she hopes to study physical therapy or engineering.

Her dream job: "something that I will enjoy doing, that will give me enough to have a good life."
