Whiz Kid: Sara DeDona

Accomplishment: Continuing music and sports all throughout high school

Sara DeDona’s passion for music is evident in her academic involvement with several of Northville High School band groups. DeDona’s is involved in not only the marching band, but also the symphonic band, pit orchestra, jazz band and chamber ensemble all through out her high school career.

DeDona plays both the clarinet and alto saxophone.

This year she competed and organized a quartet and competed in the solo ensemble competition, where she received a division one rating at both the district and the state level.

In 2010, DeDona also competed in the solo ensemble competition where she had organized a jazz combo. She competed at the state’s solo ensemble and received a division two rating.

As if she is not busy enough with band, DeDona is also taking four advanced placement classes, is a member of the National Honors Society, German National Honor Society, and National Society of High School Scholars.

On top of DeDona’s full schedule of academic and extracurricular activities, she also manages to find the time to tutor other students in subjects like math and science.

DeDona is a senior this year and will be attending Eastern Michigan University on a Presidential Scholarship. She hopes to study something in the science field and plans to continue her passion for music by minoring in music.
