Northville Students to Return to School Wednesday

Despite the low wind chills, Northville Public Schools will be open.

Northville Public Schools were closed Tuesday because of the extreme cold.

Although the freezing temperatures and wind chill values as low as 20 degrees below zero are to continue, Northville schools will be open Wednesday.

"Local meteorologists are predicting an actual temperature of -1 at 6 a.m., with wind chill temperatures near -15 to -20, however, improving to above zero temperatures and a wind chill range closer to -12 to -15 by 9 a.m. and the wind chill advisory lifted altogether by midday," read an email to parents Tuesday evening.

The forecast does not call for snow, so the district does not anticipate any issues with the roads. The bus drivers will report to work early Wednesday morning to ensure the buses start and are on schedule, the email said.

If the weather changes to warrant school closings, the district will make the decision by 4:30 a.m. Wednesday and communicate it via the call-out system, email list and through the media.
