Strong Winds Result in Power Outages for 600 Northville Customers

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Wayne and Oakland Counties and nearly 600 DTE customers lost power.

A wind advisory for Wayne and Oakland Counties has been issued until 8 p.m., cautioning residents about southwest winds up to 50 mph.

The National Weather Service issued the hazardous weather warning at 11:45 a.m. for numerous counties, including Wayne, Macomb, Washtenaw, Lenawee and Lapeer.

According to the DTE outage map, nearly 600 customers in Northville are without power, due to an area outage. The majority of the affected homes are in an area of Northville Township along Six Mile Road between Ridge Road and Salem Road. There are also about 13 customers without power on E. Whipple Drive, near Main Street and Beck Road.

Weather in this area is expected to remain strong until the early evening. In the meantime, the National Weather Service is anticipating these types of impacts:

  • Downed tree limbs
  • Power outages
  • Loose objects, such as trash cans, will be blown around

It is suggested that residents secure objects around the home and exercise caution when driving in strong winds.
