As previously communicated, we take any suspicious activity seriously while weighing the ongoing impact of over-reacting to anonymous calls. As always, we work collaboratively with the police to evaluate any suspicious activity and act in the interest of the safety and well-being of our students.

We appreciate the responsiveness of the Novi Police together with the Thornton Creek staff, students and parents in responding to this situation and in keeping our children safe and focused on learning.

Earlier today, the school district sent out this email to inform parents that the school had been put on general alert:

Dear Northville Public Schools parents, staff and community members,

For your information and awareness, Thornton Creek Elementary School received an anonymous call late this morning. While there was no specific threat made, the caller would not identify himself. As a result, the information was reported to the Novi Police Department, and the building went into a General Alert mode, which is a heightened level of security.

As a precautionary measure, Novi police officers are remaining on-site, and morning dismissal of the kindergarten and preschool classes was closely monitored. Recess will be indoors. We take any suspicious activity seriously while weighing the ongoing impact of over-reacting to anonymous calls. The source of the call is under investigation by the police. Any additional information received from staff and/or parents or community members will be followed up on accordingly.
