Last week, a special flag flew over .
It was sent by U.S. Army Lt. Col. Jan Malaikal, who is currently serving in Afghanistan. Her two sons, Spencer and Brock, attend the school. The flag has flown over her Army base.
Malaikal also recently received a medal from the Lituanian government and Italian Army for her exemplary service. She has been previously deployed to Iraq.
Her husband Matthew, who was on hand for the flag-raising, said that she sent the flag because the school has been so supportive while she has been serving overseas. The flag was raised by her fifth grader son Spencer.
