Mustangs Girls Soccer Defeats Salem 5-2

Senior Mallory Weber scored a hat trick in Tuesday's victory.

The girls soccer team defeated Tuesday 5-2 in the Mustangs' first KLAA division match of the season.

According to Northville coach Eric Brucker, senior Mallory Weber scored a hat trick that put the team over the edge in scoring, with junior Emily Bush contributing two goals.

Weber scored her first goal 29 minutes into the first half, assisted by senior Jenni Borawski.

Weber was also assisted by Borawski for a goal at the 50-minute mark, and scored the third goal 78 minutes into the game with an assist from sophomore Jamie Cheslik. 

Bush scored the first goal of the game at the 13-minute mark, and also scored 27 minutes into the game with an assist from Weber.

Salem's Nancy Krutty scored off a corner kick at the 25-minute mark and Haley Rogers contributed Salem's second goal 73 minutes into the game.

Freshman Emily Maresh was in net for the Mustangs. 

Northville's record is now 3-0-2, while Salem's moves to 2-1-1.

"This was a good win for us," said Brucker. "(Coach) Joe (Nora) has a young talented bunch of kids at Salem. ... We created a lot of scoring opportunities and the defense played solid."

The Mustangs' next game is Thursday at home against  at 7 p.m.
