Northville Girls Basketball Falls to South Lyon

Northville lost the game by a score of 36-35.

's varsity girls basketball team lost its final home game before the KLAA playoffs begin on Tuesday. The team lost to South Lyon, 36-35.

Coach Todd Gudith said of the game: "It was a back and forth game with neither team able to take hold and establish control. With South Lyon up one just before halftime, Kendra Brenner hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the Mustangs to the locker room with a two point edge."

Turnovers were a problem for Northville, he said. The Mustangs ended the game with 23 turnovers.

"Northville's usual solid defense was picked apart by South Lyon as they got off 53 shot attempts and a number of them off of offensive rebounds. In the fourth quarter and down one with three seconds left, Northville's inbounds play just to the side of their basket was well defended by South Lyon and a turnaround jumper by Kendra Brenner missed the mark."

He added, "I thought we reverted back to some of our old bad habits: not taking care of the basketball, rebounding and dictating the pace of play. Those were things that had been issues early on in the season and I felt we had taken care of them. We had done a much better job at those three phases of the game in the past month."
