Northville Girls Soccer Ends Novi's Winning Streak

The Mustangs beat their rival with a final score of 1-0.

Northville moves to 2-0 in the KLAA Central division after defeating rival Novi 1-0 in girls soccer action Thursday.

According to Northville coach Eric Brucker, Northville got the only goal of the game at the 63 minute mark in the second half when senior Jenni Borawski corralled a cross from the right hand side; Borawski played the ball forward into the 18-yards box to sophomore Jamie Cheslik. Cheslik juked to the inside but turned to the outside and fired a low line drive shot to the near post under the diving Novi keeper.

Junior Kiki Hilmer is credited with the shutout for Northville.

"Kiki did a great job controlling the box in the back. We played at our tempo which I think was important. When you can limit Novi to only a handful of shots; you're defense is playing well," Brucker said.

Brucker said the game was a great team win.

"Jamie, Emily, and Mallory were also causing a lot of chaos in the Wildcat's defense. The girls are very excited to end Novi's unbeaten streak (40 games). Its such a great rivalry. Now will prepare for two more divisional opponents next week," said Brucker.

Northville's record is now 4-0-2 (2-0-0 KLAA Central), while Novi's is 3-1-3 (1-1-0 KLAA Central).

Northville's next game is Tuesday, April 24 at South Lyon at 6 p.m.
