Northville Girls Swim Team Beats Salem High School

Girls place first in medley relay and individual events on Thursday at Salem High School.

's girls swim team had an overall score of 120 over Salem High School's 66 at a meet on Thursday, placing first in relays and individual events.

"We are continuing our hard work in practice and swimming tired," said Northville's coach Brian McNeff in an email. "Despite that we are still getting pretty close to our best times, and in some cases getting our best times."

He added, "I am still impressed with the mental attitude that our team has in practice.  It has not been easy, but they know that there is a purpose to the hard work and they continue to put in a good effort."

The Mustangs placed first in the medley relay. Junior Maddy Kipke, junior Catherine Cui, senior Shannon Lohman and junior Briana Schoenek placed first in that event with a time of 1:56.14. Northville High School also placed third in the medley relay with swimmers Madison Schulz, Sarah Lohman, Lia Nagata and Leah Erlandson.

The girls also had a first place win in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:47.98. First place swimmers in that event include Shannon Lohman, Susan Morris, Emily Butler and Schoenek.

Cui, Schoenek, Meister, Shannon Lohman and Kipke also placed first in individual events.
