Northville Kicks Off Homecoming Football Game, Parade Friday

Football is just the start of the homecoming activities this week.

The Northville High School Mustangs varsity football team will take on South Lyon East High School this week for the season's homecoming game.

The game starts 7 p.m. Friday at Tom Holzer Ford Field, 775 North Center St.

The Mustangs are going into the game with four consecutive wins and one loss. The team defeated Livonia's Stevenson High School last week 48 to 21.

Head Coach Matt Ladach said the team includes several juniors and sophomores who played junior varsity last year and some players who didn't play football at all. As far as players to watch in Friday's game, he said there are several.

"Our quarterback has probably been our most dynamic player so far," Ladach said.

That quarterback is senior Joseph Hewlett, player number 7. Another person worth mentioning is senior Jake Slominski — wide receiver, player number 10 — who did not play football last year.

"We have some guys who are new but don’t play a whole lot. He is one kid that is new and contributed right away for us," Ladach said.

Homecoming parade to step off downtown

Before the Mustangs play host to the Cougars Friday, Northville will celebrate its team and school at the traditional homecoming parade and tailgate.

The parade leaves from the parking lot of the Old Village School, on Main Street, at 6 p.m. Friday. Show the school more support and attend the homecoming tailgate from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the parking lot of Hillside Middle School. Read more about the tailgate.

After snapping some pictures with a DSLR camera or smartphone, remember to share your homecoming photos on Northville Patch. That includes photos from Friday's activities and Saturday's homecoming dance. We would love to see them!
