Top Prep Players Showcase Baseball Skills Before College Coaches, Pro Scouts

The 17th Annual Michigan High School Baseball Showcase will be held Aug. 6-7 in Grosse Pointe.

Michigan’s top high school baseball players are invited to be part of the  17th Annual Michigan High School Baseball Showcase, hosted by the Grosse Pointe Baseball Organization, headed up by former Detroit Tiger Dave Bergman.

The event targets the state’s top players. Those who have the desire and ability to play college or pro ball are given the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of Midwest college coaches and pro scouts.

Though this is not  private fundraiser, profits after expenses go to the Grosse Pointe Redbirds amateur baseball teams, age 15-18. This event is for high school players only.

Showcase Format:
  • Skills competition: infield, outfield, pitching, catching, running and throwing.    You will be scheduled either Wednesday or Thursday at 8:00 am or 9:30 am at Grosse Pointe South. Arrive 30 minutes prior to your assigned time.

  • Games: 156 players will be divided into a dozen 13-man teams headed up by high school coaches for two 9-inning games/one per day. (Friday will be for rain delay, if necessary). Games will be played at both Grosse Pointe North & Grosse Pointe South at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Report to your coach, at assigned field, at least one hour prior to your assigned game time.

  • Sign-in and uniform pick-up: Tuesday 5-8 p.m. at Grosse Pointe North (Headquarters for the event). Player or parent/guardian must be present to receive uniform and team assignment.

  • Uniforms: Jersey will be provided. Players need to bring their own white or grey baseball pants, socks, helmet, catching equipment and high school baseball hat.

  • Picnic: 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Grosse Pointe North following the last game of the day.  Players free.    $5 tickets available for purchase for all others.

  • Food, Beverages and Snacks will be available for purchase at both fields during games.

  • Programbookwith each player's personal profile will be provided to all players attending. Program books for college coaches and pro scouts will include GPA and SAT/ACT scores. Data in skills competition will be provided after the event to all college coaches and scouts attending the Showcase and a copy will be mailed to each participant.

  • Baseball fields: Grosse Pointe North Baseball Field located at 707 Vernier Rd, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236 and Grosse Pointe South Baseball Field located at 11 Grosse Pointe Blvd, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236.
